Party member composition and organisation growth in 2024

context: Strengthening Party reach nationwide has been promoted since the 19th Party Congress. Xi Jinping 习近平 stresses rebuilding a hierarchical structure that allows central directives to penetrate into grassroots policies. Priority focuses on consolidating Party secretary authority whilst shoring up internal accountability. The ultimate aim involves recreating a tightly woven network. At the end of 2023, the CPC notes that Party presence has covered 99.9 percent of grassroots regions, noting a net 1.2 percent increase in CPC members.

At the end of 2024, the CPC had a total of 100.271 million members, marking a net increase of 11.1 percent (1.086 million) compared to 2023, reports Xinhua.

The Party had a total of 5.25 million grassroots organisations, a net increase of 74,000 compared to the previous year.

The CPC cultivated 2.131 million new members during the year
