analyst positions: macro/trade, scitech (remote)

full-time

Join CHINA POLICY, a globally recognised policy intelligence and advisory firm tracking Beijing’s fast‑moving policy agenda. We help clients map, analyse, and respond to the PRC’s shifting domestic and market settings.

macroeconomy and trade

We’re looking for an analyst with strong economics training and a clear sense that Beijing’s policy path isn’t following Western models. You’ll help us understand how growth, reform, and global frameworks interact as Beijing approaches the 15th 5-year plan.

From monetary and fiscal policy to SOE reform, trade in goods and services, FDI and Belt and Road developments—you’ll follow the signals that shape policy directions and market realities.

science, technology and innovation

We’re also inviting applications for an analyst to join our scitech portfolio. You’ll track the policy terrain as China pushes up the value chain—AI, green and hydrogen technologies, EVs, new materials, tech transfer, IP rights, cybersecurity, R&D funding, and competition law are all in scope.

The role calls for a close reader who can locate the key debates, policies, people and institutions shaping China’s tech strategy and global reach.

what you’ll do

  • track domestic debates, signal events and policy trends
  • summarise and translate Chinese‑language material
  • draft clear, concise analysis in English
  • build profiles of key agencies and actors
  • present findings to colleagues and clients
  • coordinate portfolio projects and deadlines

what we look for

  • expertise in PRC macro/trade or scitech policy
  • strong research and writing skills in English
  • near‑native‑level Chinese
  • high academic achievement (MA or higher) and intellectual curiosity
  • attention to detail and clear communication
  • independent, engaged and dependable under deadlines
