Maple Bridge experience 枫桥经验 fēngqiáo jīngyàn

This phrase comes from a Mao Zedong speech in November 1963—‘Relying on the Masses to Resolve Contradictions’—that called for local populations to help authorities identify class enemies. On the 55th anniversary of the speech, state media is re-casting the masses as working with law enforcement in the new era to build safer communities and help modernise grassroots social governance.
